 The
Nam Ha River forms the heart of the Nam Ha Protected
Area and represents one of the most untouched waterways
in Laos. You will be paddling exciting but manageable 2
to 3 grade rapids.
Day 1:
The day of paddling takes you
through the thick, in parts old-growth forest of the Nam
Ha NPA. A picnic lunch and a refreshing swim mark
mid-day. After reaching the Khmu village of Ban Nalan, a
traditional Lao dinner is prepared and you spend the
night in a Khmu style house.
Day 2:
The valley of the Nam Ha River widens
before reaching the Lanten village of Ban Nam Khoy. This
scenic village with its thatched roofs and houses with
earthen floors looks much like would have in the 16th
century, when the Lanten first settled here.
In the afternoon, the river features a number of swift
rapids before arriving at the confluence of the Nam Ha
and Nam Tha Rivers.
This is where a pick-up awaits the group for the return
to Luang Namtha.
