Travel Tips
VISA
Canadian citizens do not
require a visa to travel to Malaysia for up to three months
for tourism purposes and business trips. Passports must be
valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry into
Malaysia.
Visitors to Malaysia has to fill in a Disembarkation Card
(IMM26). The card has to be handed over to the Immigration
Officer on arrival together with the national passport or
other internationally recognized travel document endorsed
for travel into Malaysia. A passport/travel document is also
necessary for travel between Sabah and Sarawak. Possession
of Travel Ticket and Sufficient Funds A visitor is also
required to present proof of his financial ability to
finance his/her stay in Malaysia together with a confirmed
return ticket to other destinations.
CUSTOMS
Items such as video equipment,
cameras, radio cassette players, watches, pens, lighters,
perfumes and cosmetics are duty-free in Malaysia. Canadian
visitors bringing in dutiable goods may have to pay deposit
for temporary importation, refundable on departure.

DRUGS CARRIES THE MANDATORY DEATH PENALTY IN MALAYSIA.

A special permit is
required for carriage of firearms and ammunition.

Other prohibited items
include flick knives, daggers and pornographic material.

Taped video cassettes
should be submitted for Customs clearance.

Export of antiques and
historical objects is not permitted unless with an
export license obtained from the Director General of
Museums Malaysia or unless these items were originally
imported and declared to Customs at that point.

You are required to declare
to Customs or the Plant Quarantine Inspector any plants
or parts of plants such as seeds, flowers, fruits, soil
samples, cultures of fungi, bacteria and viruses,
insects or any other vertebrate or invertebrate animal,
that is in your possession.
Visitors staying for a minimum
of 72 hours are permitted personal duty-free allowance of:
200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 225 gm tobacco
1 bottle (1 litre) of liquor or wine
Cosmetics, perfumes, clothes etc. for personal use
Gifts and souvenirs worth not more than RM200.00

Permitted Currency Limits

Non resident is permitted
to carry into and out of Malaysia, ringgit notes
not exceeding RM 1, 000.00 per person

There is no limit on the
amount of foreign currency notes and travellers cheques
carried into Malaysia.

to carry out of Malaysia, foreign currency notes
including traveler's cheques not exceeding the amount
brought in.

ringgit notes, foreign currency notes and traveler's
cheques in excess of the permitted limits, prior
