North-south train fares rise
7-15%

The Vietnam Railways Corporation
has begun applying new fares for north-south
trains as of today, April 1, 2008.
Accordingly, the fares for some north-south
trains will rise by 7-15%. For SE3/4 train, the
fare for a lower bunk in a four-bed carriage
with air conditioner will be VND1.148 million,
VND1.134 million for an upper bunk,
VND774,000/soft seat and VND710,000/hard seat on
air-conditioning carriages.
For SE1/2 train, the highest fare is VND1.13
million and the lowest is VND750,000/ticket. The
fare for TN1 and TN2 trains will not change. The
above fares include VAT already, but not food
expenses.
Passengers can buy rations on trains or take
their own food. Passengers who purchased tickets
at Hanoi and HCM City railway stations before
April 1 will still be served food on the train.
