VN sees 15.7% rise in Q1
number of foreign visitors

The number of international
visitors to Viet Nam in the first quarter of the
year rose by 15.7 percent to 1.3 million,
according to the country’s General Statistics
Office.
The Office’s statistics shows that about 490,000
Chinese, American and Korean tourists visited
the nation over the first three months, and the
figure accounted for nearly one-third of the
total.
Regarding spending, vacation goers from Sweden,
Finland, Australia and Hong Kong were reported
to pay more money for services than other
visitors.
Ho Chi Minh City, the nation’s economic hub,
welcomed 840,000 foreign visitors, about
two-thirds of the total. The figure represents a
20 percent rise over the same period last year.
In March, the Viet Nam Tourism Administration
and six major travel companies co-organized
activities to promote Viet Nam tourism France,
Germany, Hungary and Russia.
At present, Ha Long Bay, Phong Nha-Ke Bang
National Park, and Fansipan Mountain of Viet Nam
are taking the lead of the New 7 Wonders of
Nature Nominees.
