Big Northwest & East Loop Cycling Tour (Option11)

Code: VNBKTD82
Routes: Hanoi - Vu Linh - Song Thao - Mai Chau - Ninh Binh - Hai Phong - Cat Ba - Hanoi
Duration: 08 Days

Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi - Nghia Lo. ~200 km
Easy ride on sealed road. Drive through rural areas with beautiful rice field along the road.

Day 2: Nghia Lo - Mu Cang Chai - Than Uyen. ~150 km
The road is wild and bumpy. We go through the massif of Mu Cang Chai, almost as high as the Fansipan. From the top, we have one of the most beautiful views of North Vietnam.

Day 3: Than Uyen - Sapa. ~100 km
Walk / stroll in the morning. Direction Sapa. Arrive in Sapa in the afternoon. Wild and bumpy roads.

Day 4: Sapa - Muong Hum. ~40 km
We ride up the Chinese border until the village of Muong Hum. Track and secondary road for 30 kilometres. Amazing sceneries.
Overnight in Muong Hum, village of Giay people.

Day 5: Muong Hum - Bac Ha. ~130 km
The ride from Muong Hum to Bac Ha takes ~4 hours, down to Lao Cai and then up to Bac Ha, taking us from Hoang Lien Son mountain range to the Chay River Massif.

Day 6: Bac Ha - Vu Linh. ~180 km
We ride down to Thac Ba lake. Voyage Vietnam's itinerary goes all along the river until Luc Yen. Beautiful landscape. Then, 2 options:

Option 1
We go first to the embarcadero. Nice ride between palm trees. Then, we cross all the lake by boat (3 hours). We arrive at the traditional village of Dzao people where we stay overnight.

Option 2 We go round the lake following small tracks. We arrive at Vu Linh, a traditional village of Dzao people where we sleep in the family of our friends. The welcome is exceptional.

Day 7: Vu Linh - Na Khan. ~200 km
You ride from Vu Linh to Na Khan through Thai Nguyen (over 200 km). The road is sealed all the way until Bac Kan and the last part from Bac Kan to Na Khan is wild and little bumpy. Na Khan is a Tay village, lost in the middle of the primitive forest. Mr. Lo, chef of the village will welcome us in his house.

Day 8: Na Khan - Hanoi. ~180 km
Quite a long ride but easy (early departure is better) from Na Khan to Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi around 5 pm
