Detail Itinerary
Day 1: Hanoi - Nghia Lo. ~200
km
Easy ride on sealed road. Drive through rural
areas with beautiful rice field along the road.
Day 2: Nghia Lo - Mu Cang Chai - Than Uyen.
~150 km.
The road is wild and bumpy. We go through the
massif of Mu Cang Chai, almost as high as the
Fansipan. From the top, we have one of the most
beautiful views of North Vietnam.
Day 3: Than Uyen - Sapa. ~100 km
Walk / stroll in the morning. Direction Sapa.
Arrive in Sapa in the afternoon. Wild and bumpy
roads.
Day 4: Sapa - Vu Linh. ~180 km
We ride down to Thac Ba lake. Voyage Vietnam's
itinerary goes all along the river until Luc
Yen. Beautiful landscape. Then, 2 options:
Option 1
We go first to the embarcadero. Nice ride
between palm trees. Then, we cross all the lake
by boat (3 hours). We arrive at the traditional
village of Dzao people where we stay overnight.
Option 2
We go round the lake following small tracks. We
arrive at Vu Linh, a traditional village of Dzao
people where we sleep in the family of our
friends. The welcome is exceptional.
Day 5: Vu Linh - Na Khan. ~200 km
You ride from Vu Linh to Na Khan through Thai
Nguyen (over 200 km). The road is sealed all the
way until Bac Kan and the last part from Bac Kan
to Na Khan is wild and little bumpy. Na Khan is
a Tay village, lost in the middle of the
primitive forest. Mr. Lo, chef of the village
will welcome us in his house.
Day 6: Na Khan - Ba Be. ~50 km
Short drive from Na Khan to Ba Be on bumpy road.
We leave our bikes at Mr. dang's house. Easy
boating on the lake and river until the house of
Mr. Pirate where we have a lunch. Afternoon, we
can go to market (if it is the day you arrive),
stop at waterfall, have a swim… Down the
waterfall, we could visit the village and a
small school.
We can stay in the stilt house of forest guards
(next to Pirate's house) or come back to the
village and spend overnight with Mr. Dang and
his family.
Day 7: Ba Be - Quang Hoa. ~170 km
Beautiful ride up to Cao Bang province. Few
passes from where you can dominate the area. The
road is easy but many curves. We can stop a lot.
All together, stop for drinks and food it should
be an 8-hour journey. Then ride 1 more hour to
reach the beautiful village of Quang Hoa, in the
middle of a mountain cirque. This is the
territory of Nung An people. Spend the night in
our friend's house.
Day 8: Quang Hoa. ~100 km
Option 1
Having obtained permission from the border
police, we make our way through spectacular
scenery to Vietnam's most impressive waterfalls.
Weather permitting we can swim right up to where
the 50 m high falls hit the river.
Option 2
Na Tau is a completely unknown area that we
propose to discover it by raft and motorbike.
Rivers and waterfalls everywhere are extremely
beautiful and wild. It is only 15 km from Quang
Hoa.
Day 9: Quang Hoa - Mau Son. ~180 km
Drive from Quang Hoa to Lang Son. Continue
driving toward the border from Lang Son to Mau
Son. Mau Son is 30 km away from Lang Son, 1.541m
above sea level. Quite cool in the evening!
Night in the guesthouse of Mau Son Resort.
Day 10: Mau Son - Hanoi. ~180 km
Promenade around Mau Son in the morning. Ride
down to Lang Son to have lunch. The road is
asphalted all the way and it takes 3 and half
hours to drive back to Hanoi.

Note
This itinerary allows for 10 field days on the
cycling section. You will be able to decide for
yourself at any time during each of these days
how far you want to cycle. Average daily cycling
distances are approximately 60 -100 km. These
distances may vary according to weather, road
conditions and group fitness and preferences.
This is a sightseeing cycle tour, not a marathon
or time trial.
