Detail Itinerary
Night 1: Hanoi - Lao Cai -
Night train. ~10 h.
Departure from Hanoi at 9.30 pm.
Arrival in Lao Cai at 6.10 am.
Day 1: Lao Cai - Bac Ha. ~80 km
The train arrives in Lao Cai at 8 am with
motorbikes and the guide. Get the bike off the
train and Quiet stage! 70 km of easy road up to
Bac Ha. Check in the hotel in Bac Ha. Drive to
Can Cau market after lunch. This is one of
Vietnam's most fascinating open-air markets, 20
km north of Bac Ha. Can Cau market attracts a
large number of Chinese traders. The market runs
only on Saturday and getting there is a rough
ride. The road leading to Can Cau is pitiless;
without a strong 2-wheeled Minsk; do not even
think about it. Sleep in Bac Ha.
Day 2: Bac Ha - Xin Man. ~50 km
In the morning, we go to Ba Ha weekend market.
This lively and crowded concrete bazaar is the
main market in Bac Ha proper. It is dominated by
the Flower H'mong and mainly operates on Sunday.
If time is bad or was bad, the stage becomes the
hardest journey. The roads are in work since
already a long time and control becomes
sporting. The good side it is that we progress
very slowly and benefit fully from the imposing
site between China and Vietnam. Mysterious
meetings of the end of the world and envision,
like a volatile perfume. Reward: A superb hotel
of nowhere awaits us in Xin Man. Well deserved
rest.
Day 3: Xin Man - Luc Yên. ~200 km
Long stage but on easy road. The landscapes
are very varied, always skirting the border to
finish in triumph in the valley of the palm
trees of Luc Yen, at the Dao and Tay. Stay in
guesthouse, one is smelled there as at home. If
the invaluable stones interest you, the ruby
rate/rhythm the life of the borough as of 5h of
the morning at the market of the stones.
Day 4: Luc Yen - Vu Linh. ~20 km, ~1 h + 3 h
boat.
Small dirt track between the litanies to join
the lake Thac Ba where a boat awaits us. One
embarks the motor bikes for a superb cruising
until in our friends Dao where we spend the
night in traditional house on stilts. Superb
work of wood. The houses are superb. In
addition, the exceptional greeting does not
leave anybody "indemne".
Day 5: Vu Linh - Song Thao. ~70 km
Return by the valley of artisans. We return
homage to them while passing in order to visit
their plantations of tree with lacquer. We call
them artisans owing to the fact that they bleed
the lacquer tree to obtain the precious
substance.
Day 6: Song Thao - Hanoi. ~150 km
We drive back via Son Tay with possibility of
passing by the site of Ba Vi or Ao Vua or lake
Dong Mo. Arrive Hanoi in the afternoon.
